How Many Electives Do YOU Take a Year?

Everyone always talks about how many AP classes they're taking, but what about electives? How many do you take per year? It could be anything that's not entirely academic, or even academic at all. Marching Band, Student Government, Newspaper, Yearbook, Ceramics. Anything.

What is an “elective”?

I kid.

The last electives I took were in Freshman year because I needed required credits.
Java Prog
Art 1
Technical Drawing

I probably would take 1-2 electives a year.

We have 8 classes, 4 per semester.
Anyways:

Freshman year: 3 (we were supposed to take 4) I took PE (req), theater and biomed
Sophomore year: 1 spanish
Junior year: 1 spanish
senior year: 0

I partake in many plays, a travel orchestra and voice lessons so I don’t need any electives really for the arts. The other electives I have no interest in.

Wow. What does your senior year look like then?

AP and dual enrollment mostly. I really run out of classes to take AP wise by junior year so I take college courses for the most part.

lololol. I don’t think I’ll have that issue.

If languages count, then
Freshman Year: PE, Spanish I, USB
Upcoming Sophomore year: Spanish II and USB (unless the school screws up my schedule and gives me PE.)

2 in 9, 10, and 11

1 in 12 th

band all years
music theory 3 years

My only elective is AcDec. Most of my activities are outside of school :D.

Freshman year: 2
Soph-Senior: 0
thug life

Wow, you guys are crazy. We have 4 classes a semester, so 8 a year, and I’ll be taking at least 1 elective each year, and I’m thinking of taking gasp 3 junior and senior year.

If you count foreign language as an elective, then I’ll be taking French II, speech(required), PE(required), and Band which counts as half the credit for fine arts.

ALL my elective spots are for Extra AP Sciences and Sociology & AP Spanish etc etc

PE (required), Drawing & Painting II, and Filmmaking II. :stuck_out_tongue: What can I say, it’s senior year.

@ weeknd: same except for language. I mean language courses are electives right?

Anyways, I love all academic subjects so taking AP Environmental science next year (I’ll be a soph) is like choosing an elective, because its not required.

Minimum for graduation is 6 elective units where I’m at. Electives are languages, arts, or career related courses. You’re required to take a combo of two different types of electives (like music + language; or language + career)

I’m taking Spanish or Chinese 1 (haven’t decided) and chamber choir. I’ll continue the language for all four years, but I might stop chamber choir junior year.

Languages are Academic Electives, which are academic classes that aren’t required

They are required at my school (for 2 years)

Freshman:
Gym, Art, Comp Apps (?)

Sophomore:
Art, Journalism, Sports Marketing

Junior:
Journalism

Senior:
Journalism and maybe Art
