How many hours do you need to stay on campus in the summer?

And can they all be electives? I don’t like my home life and I want to be sure that can stay on campus during the summer. I’m currently a junior in HS.

I would look at colleges of interest and search on “Summer Housing” and see what they say.
I think the question would be: “Who would pay for it?”
At my daughter’s school it is $200 per week plus the cost of the courses.
They could be any class offered.

Another option is to find a job where you could live there…for example, summer camps.
You might also talk to a relative to see if you could stay with them for the summer and work.

I have looked on their site I didn’t find anything.

Without knowing the college, none of us can help you. Even with a FT load, some colleges will not house HS students. Call/email the college and ask.

Assuming you have control of your own transportation and have money, you could probably stay on campus (classes, libraries, etc.) for everything except sleeping, or at least until 7pm at night.

I think you mean when you go to college, not now, right? If you get a job on campus, particularly in the Housing/Residence Halls department and work in the dorm, you can possibly work a certain number of hours to cover your summer housing. I did it for two years while in college. I took no summer classes since my scholarship did not cover summers.

There is a distinction on whether you are a part time student or full time, usually 12 credit hours. You can always move off campus too, at many schools the dorms/facilities close during summer.

Your plan might not be realistic. A lot of summer courses are very basic, or won’t count towards your degree. If you are not happy at home, maybe a better idea is to be very proactive with the career center and find jobs that keep you gone most of the summer.

I’m really confused about the logistics of this. You’re a high school student and want to stay on a college campus for the summer? Will they allow that??

I really do think OP is just trying to think ahead for summers once they’re in college. I mean, maybe not, but that’s what I got out of the first post.

When the time comes, call Residential Life at the college and ask.

University of North Texas

I mean when I get to college.

Correct.
