Andreaaaaa - did your school already get the NMSF results for the students who took it Fall 2006? Since my S's school doesn't start until next week, we've heard nothing regarding whether or not he made the cut for this year. He attends school in the Lake Washington School District in Kirkland/Redmond.

And last year (student's who took it Fall of 2005), there was only one from his high school - class of about 425. District wide, I'd guess there are about 20 students in total who make it from the five high schools combined each year.

dvu, i dont know if we received anything, but the highest score at my school was my score, 203. so i am quite sure that no one got semi-finalist, because 203 is almost certainly below the cutoff. i hope your son makes it though!

I'm hopeful that his 219 is enough for him to make the cut. This waiting stuff is the hardest part, especially since the scores have been being posted from around the country for almost a week now!

that will almost certainly be in, 219 was the cutoff last year and since they scored the writing differently, the commended cutoff dropped three points, and the semi score will probably also drop, or at least not rise. best of luck though.

A small private school in our neighborhood advertised several years ago that 20% of their class were finalists. Class of around 60. Their numbers have since dropped significantly-- so I suspect that year was a fluke.

public high school outside Cleveland--15 semifinalists and 18 commended this past year--much higher than surrounding schools even though it serves a much more diverse population. There were about 400 students in the SR class.

DVU1990, The "OFFICIAL National Merit Semifinalist Cutoff Scores 2007" thread on this web site says the WA cutoff is <=216 on p. 16. (It is really the 2008 Cutoff Scores.) I don't know how to link.
