How many NM Semi Finalists at your school? Is my school abnormal?

<p>So there were 16 semi-finalists for National Merit at my school, which seems like a LOT to me. How many at most schools?</p>

<p>It depends how big your school is. My school has 171 seniors and I was the only semi-finalist. </p>

<p>8 out of 425 at our hs. This was an all-time record. Usually it's 2-3.</p>

<p>My school is a class of 635. This year we tied our record of 16, but its never been higher. I'm really excited I made the cutoff, it was 211 and I got a 211. Thank goodness Arizona is full of hicks.</p>

<p>Our town has 2 high schools. The public school has approximately 600 seniors, and my dd attends a private school with a class of 8, yes 8. She was the only semifinalist in the whole town with a score of 222. Last year same thing. Approx 600 in the other high school, 13 in our high school, and 1 semifinalist with a score of 227.</p>

<p>My daughter's school had 15 NMFs from a class of 431.</p>
