Hey all. I was born a Sikh, but I do the whole spiritual not religious thing. So, I believe in God, but more of a mother nature than a heavenly father figure. God is in everything and is natural law, the thread of existence. Every religion tries to find its peace and tries to connect with the Divine, although religion has been abused from time to time, which is a real shame. Some people got big ego issues :(. But overall, I got faith in these religions.

I don't believe there is any god.

I'm a Hindu and yes I believe in God.

I'm atheist; must say that I have yet to meet anyone that has tried to "save" me...suppose it's because I'm still young.

I believe in being a good, honest person. I figure if there is a god, that he/she will forgive the fact that I didn't believe in him/her because I was true to myself and to others, and I tried to help people whenever I could during my life.

Last month in a Baptist church in Waynesville, N.C., the pastor kicked out all the church's Democrats.

Last year, St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke proclaimed that its a sin for any Catholic to vote for a politician who supports abortion rights, and that they have to confess before receiving communion. Serious stuff.

Too bad it's NOT a sin to vote for a president who gets well over a thousand American soldiers killed in a war he knows not to be justified.

And CDN_dancer: Good attitude. I'm a fairly religious Catholic, and I'd have to agree with you about what God would do with others (again assuming our version of the supernatural is true, which I believe it is).

From the conservation of matter and energy, there must be a God. You can't make something out of nothing...

Then how, pray tell, did God come into existence?

AnOnymOu5,

You make a valid point about there being extremists on both sides of the spectrum. Generally, however, I have found that there are a lot more "crazy people" on the religious side.

I think the only thing we can take from this debate, and countless others like it, is that as humans, we must learn to tolerate other people's points of view. I am by no means convinced that God exists (in fact, I am more disillusioned by the idea than ever) and I am still disgusted by those who try to "save" others or comdemn them for not practicing their chosen religion, but unless we want another crusade or world war on our hands, we must all take a deep breath and remember that religion, or lack thereof, is a personal choice. I would also appreciate it if I could be free to be an atheist in this country without being looked down upon or being told that I'll burn in hell.

I bet the OP had no idea what he would start when he innocently posed the fateful "How many of you believe in God" question...................or did he?

Republicans in this country are twisting Christianity much the same way terrorists are twisting Islam. Not quite as heinously, but using the same forms of twisting sacred scripture. It's sad to see the hostility towards religion as a result, among those who do not believe the same thing.

i believe in God.....the God, who saved me from my sins.....

actually Jesus saved you.

actually Jesus is God.

one in the same.

I thought Jesus was the Son of God?

Well; we have the The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

There are many religions where God is not Jesus. I am Catholic, but I understand that millions of people in this world have a variety of faiths. And I repsect and honor that.

Lets look at it this way...what proof have we got that "Jesus" was in fact the son of God. Have you ever considered it could have been the biggest hoax ever. Leaders from the dawn of Christianity have twisted the words of the bible and used it to their own advantage. Have you ever considered that we may be worshiping what the leaders want us to worship. There are rumours that in the vatican there is in fact a gospel that jesus wrote in which he says that christians don't have to go to church on a Sunday. There are a lot of contradictions in the bible. For example, jesus said "bless'd are the peacemakers" but later on he tells his disciples to use swords. Thats why i find the bible and the creationist theory hard to believe as it has distorted by humans on this Earth and is not really the word of god in its purest sense.

^ The bible also contradicts itself in many more ways other than the one you have mentioned. The biggest hoax? XDDDD I would agree.

yeah many things are POSSIBLE. the moon landing being a hoax is possible too. maybe atoms, and unobservable science is all an elaborate hoax as well. what if the entire world was constructed around you, presenting you false facts, in a weird sort of grand experiment.

what if al qaeda and the US government were not actually opposed, but shared a higher authority who created a conflict in order to control both peoples? (the Illuminati)
