Are there any other agnostics on CC?

I'm just curious if there are any agnostics here on CC....

I feel lonely with my confused beliefs sometimes.

Well if you dont believe in God, u can believe in me. I am trustable.

I am agnostic. There was an interesting discussion a about 1-2 months ago that featured people of every level of believe.

By the way, I hope you do not expect a productive discourse. For the most part, religious debates cause people to fall farther in the direction that they are already leaning. The confused become more confused, atheists become more convinced, etc.

Religous debates are like arguing with my best friend...no one wins and it's just a match between which side can hold out the longest

You are probably right that we just become more of what we already were, that is if we are what we want to be.

But, for me the more I debate on this topic the more at peace I feel. For me the worst is to leave the whole mess sit.

By the way, my parents are atheists basically or non-religious as well as older sister. However, all my relatives are Christians, some hard-core. Plus all my friends and neighbors and basically whole community is Christian. I just found out that one teacher in my school is agnostic, though no one else knows it. She's the spanish teacher (surprise) and teaches at 3 different schools and so I suppose most don't know her well. She's quite the character, with an implanted permanent smile on her face and her almost obsessive nature. She is so so organized and wow. Anyway, she is completely objective in the class and would never mention somehting like that, but I started to stay after Thursdays to converse with her in spanish for 20 minutes to an hour afternoons and the topic came up. In my small community, it was interesting.

Anyway, hmm I still like hearing how everyone comes to their own conclusions and how deep those conclusions are.

Your not the only one. Trust me.

I wonder what the break down of CC'ers is... religious wise I mean... Anyway, I am seriously hooked to this rambling posting of messages.

Count me in for agnostic

It's normal to want to debate these issues: atheists don't understand why anyone would believe in something that hasn't really been proven, religious people are completely convinced that their faith is right and are usually genuinely concerned about non-believers whereas agnostics feel that through debate, their ideas will become clearer to them.

I was agnostic, but now I am absolutely atheist. If God exists, why do we have so many adversities?

Um... free will?

When people disagree so obstinately it usually means they are not genuinely interested in the truth, but rather in convincing the other through whatever art of rhetoric they can manage. Debate itself is usually a dead end. Conversation's good though. Read Plato's Meno.

A pretty convinced theist

A pretty convinced atheist, myself

(still haven't told my parents though. it's like i'm being bad... :))

I forced myself to go to church and it still didn't work.

hey, i tried

hey i'm an atheist too :)
yeah I don't discuss it with too many people because the country's so religious as a whole...it wouldn't go over very well with my mom either =/

I'm an atheist but I find it hard sometimes.

Haha, my school is probably 20% Christian, .5% Jewish, and 79.5% Agnostic. You're in good company.

my school is mainly Agnostic/Atheist as well.

elizabeth and shrek... are you guys in college or high school?

That's so strange to imagine having the majority of the class atheist and agnostic. IN my not at all diverse small town it is a shame to be an atheist.

Most of the people in my school are atheist and agnostic (this is a british international school in spain) and here it's the opposite, it's usually tougher to talk about religion if you have one, you find you will be defending yourself. In Europe people are generally not religious.

Highschool. It's weirder to be religious here than it is to be Agnostic.
