How many of you have jobs?

^working at bestbuy is horrible? That would be like heaven to me…sooo much cool stuff

But I just got a job as a bag-boy at Bi-Lo about 3 weeks ago and I like it a lot. The other people who work there are really nice but the customers…oh man.

Customers are constantly rude and dont be surprised if they outright disrespect you. Managers pressure you to sale product protection plans while they just huddle and talk amonst each other, sharing jokes for hours on end. Don’t be surprised if they have you closing the store and you leave around midnight. I could go on and on…let me know if you have any specific questions though. I mean I guess its not THATTTT bad.

My dad started a home business for fun several years back. He is transferring the Amazon portion over to me, and I currently make about $70 a week, but it is pretty easy work; only about an hour a day. I’m just sitting at the computer, processing orders and dealing occasionally with customer concerns. It is a way to relax, and get away from studying and ECs.

So when so I apply?!

Apply as early as you can. Heck, I remember I got call backs from several places when I applied in early April.

@EnticingPlague yea I hate that. And at like 8:30 on my very first night the manager told me to clean bathrooms and apparently I didn’t do them right so he found me right as I was about to leave and yelled at me. I had never learned how to clean them during training so I felt like it wasn’t my fault but apparently it was. He’s the worst person ever.

I’ve worked as a waitress for a couple of years.

@jspeed12 What a jerk, it really does make you feel so…angry. Oh well, one time at BestBuy we weren’t allowed to leave until one in the morning just because the manager felt the need to reorder top stocks all around the store.

I don’t have a job, but I’ve been doing research at a local university for a while - an unpaid research position. Soon I’ll be doing a paid internship all summer with a university hospital. It’ll be fun! But I also want to have a real “job” sometime soon though; I’m 16 and feel like working in clothing retail would be fun.

So should I apply now or not?!!?!!

I am looking for one! Although I don’t know how…

I worked at a fast food place for a bit. That job taught me to hate most people.

^Lol why do you say that?

Just apply online to some chain places like Target, McDonalds, etc. Or just drive around your town and ask for an application at places you wouldn’t mind working, especially if they have a help wanted sign up. So just apply everywhere you can.

After all, I did find out about my job due to chance. I went to look up ice skating info for the waterpark in the winter and ended up seeing a job application for the summer.

^Well I’m not allowed to work until I am 16 and I’m not 16 yet but I will be soon…

I just got one! I’m working for my city government. They have this summer teen employment program, so I got into that. Minimum wage, but still definitely a hell of a lot better than min wage elsewhere. I’m going to be a receptionist/secretary.

LUCKY!!! Well I applied to best buy…I need more ideas where to apply any ideas?

I have a paper route I do from 12 am- 3:30/4:30am. About 80 miles, 350-400 papers and pays $1,700 a month. It’s only until university starts and then I hope to work on campus.

Well I guess I am going to have to wait until I turn 16 cause many places don’t let me apply until then

Internship at private equity office. I did it last year and I have another this year. Building resume for freshmen year internship at Goldman  (dreaming at least).
