I am about to be 16 and trying to think of places to apply. So who is working here and where are you working?

Not me… :3 It’s so hard to get a part time job without have connections or major work experience. Some of the people I know who have jobs work so many hours and hate it. HAhaha

Become a tutor!

I go to a pretty good high school in the city. My neighbors know this, and have hired me to tutor their freshman/sophomore children in a variety of subjects from Spanish to Precalculus.

I charge $30/hour and I go for a couple of hours during weekends.

Then I take that money and invest it in stocks.

Better than some lame job at McDonald’s!

I work on the banquet staff of a local hotel… Basically I set up tables, bring out food, pour drinks, and stand around chatting for most of the time. Soooo easy and the pay is good, too!

Nothing official nor legal but it brings in $

I tutor too. Pays good and I only have to work a few hours a week :)

i’m getting ripped off! tutor for free twice a week and work at kmart. and volunteer at the franklin institute once a week

@jake: That actually sounds like a cool job haha.

I teach little children :D

I will be working at a summer camp during the summer time. I like it because it will give me some extra cash over the summer, but it won’t take away from my academics. I’ll be working with 1st and 2nd graders.

I just started working at Kumon, well I actually haven’t worked yet, I just got hired. I should start soon. I’ve heard it doesn’t pay well, but I’m excited to work with kids as I want to be a teacher! :)

i work at pinkberry…serving the general public frozen yogurt for hours on end really blows

@lightasair-
Fro yo addict here. That is probably my dream high school job. XD

^ lightasair, that sounds fun! I’ve actually wanted to be an ice cream worker hahaha

Private violin teacher: $25/hour (though my student’s moving away in 2 weeks; bye-bye income). I’m getting an internship this summer at the DA’s office, but after that, I’m hoping I can use my grades/test scores to lure in some people who need tutoring.

Tutoring is extremely profitable. My school has a directory of tutors you can apply to be in; you turn in a list of all the subjects you tutor in and have them signed by the respective teachers. My sophomore year I charged $15/hr. My junior year, I charged $20 until I got so many people calling me for tutoring that I raised it to $25 and had to refer many of them over to my friends 'cause I couldn’t do them all. Total I’ve earned is about $250 over a 2-month period. (I had to stop because I had swim spring season.) I’m definitely gonna do some more tutoring spring semester senior year.

@JoJoBear I can’t tutor because my school offers free tutoring…

@oxycontin Oh do say more :)

I’ll be working at a water park this summer. I had my first training session yesterday, and I have one more tomorrow. I really like the boss/management there, so hopefully I’ll feel the same way all summer.

Well I was just asking because I am turning 16 in June and I am wondering if I should I apply for jobs now and put the start date as my birthday. Or wait until my actual birthday (When most of the jobs are taken).

I work at bestbuy during the summer, as a seasonal employee. They are pretty flexible with their hours but it is a horrible place to work overall.

I was thinking about applying there why is it so bad to work there?
