How many OOS applied to UC schools and what do you think your chances are?

I'm just curious about OOS kids and their stats. What do you think your chances are of getting into UC schools?

I applied to UCLA/UCSD/UCI from OOS with a 4.1 GPA and a 1480/1600 and 2150/2400 SAT. I already am admitted to UCI honors (no money), I think almost 99% to SD (schools naviance shows everyone who has ever applied has been accepted...and its a wide range of stats). As for UCLA, maybe 50%? But I dont know. UCLA was the best campus I visited, but now i go back and calculate tution and the disadvantages of a large school and everything I dont think its worth it and probably will not go to any of them if accepted. If I was instate, I'd go in a heartbeat :)

Just a note: My college advisor is from CA and doesn't feel the UC's are worth the OOS tuition if you have a good in state comparable.

I think Berkeley/UCLA are worth the OOS tuition. Maybe UCSD.

I don't even think the flagships are worth the $40k OOS. For that kinda green, one could go to an excellent private school, with smaller classes, better advising, etc.

I would say UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD are probably worth the oos tuition if you are fortunate to gain oos admission. But if you could get into them oos, then you probably could into an elite private, which might provide smaller classes and more personalized attention for a similar tuition.

^^ exactly. I've heard of OOS people getting into Stanford but not Berkeley. So if you can get into Berkeley oos and a great private, and would prefer a smaller school, the private would be worth it.
