how many others used the common app?

i did. and i heard just today that using the common is a disadvantage because it shows a lack of interest. i sure would hope that's not true- i love duke but if that petty fact is a factor in my decision that's kinda messed.... but what am i talking about if i get rejected (which i prob will) its cuz so many ppl are more qualified than me lol.... but ya anyone else feel this way?

I don't think it hurts at all.

I did, because it's easier to use all the teacher recommendations for other schools.

I used to work in the admissions office-and it doesnt matter at all.In fact, the people who make your decisions dont even see that

thats reassuring

I used common app, because it made life easier (especially when I was tearing my hair out over trying to sort out everything by end 2005 -- last minute person. =P)

i did....soo much easier. i got a likely letter earlier so i doubt common app hurts in any way.

I used common app, and showed negative interest in the school (applying last day of the EXTENDED deadline, generic Why Duke essay), but I still got in. Apparently they don't care too much about interest, or they care more about stats.

flipsta_G i was in the same boat as you, last day of extended deadline w/ the common app, and the why duke essay. i got in. i think i appeared as uninterested as possible, not that i was.

LOL smq. The funny thing for me is that I really WAS as uninterested as possible. I only applied because of the extended deadline, when I was feeling like I needed more schools after failing to apply to Pton, Brown, Penn, Cornell out of sheer laziness.

I didnt really think I could get in so i didnt apply and then the ROTC department called and offered a full scholarship if i could get an application in on time. so i guess i wasnt uninterested i just didnt really think about it. so where are you going flipsta?

This just in: I got in by using the common app.
