How many people are on the frosh waitlist for Fall 2013?

I really want to go to UCSB and I hope that I will get accepted through the waitlist.

Thank you for your answers!

hey, I’m in the same position as you are  last year they offered about 3,000 students a place on the waitlist, and around 2,200 accepted. around 300 actually got in off the waitlist. idk the stats for this year, but that should give you a rough idea… however, the year before that they didn’t accept anybody from the waitlist if i remember correctly so who knows how it will go this year

Let’s hope we both get accepted! Who knows, we might be roomies! Good luck!

According to Ms. Sun, about 3,600 were waitlisted but it’s a guessing game over how many actually opted-in.

Yeah I saw that as well, how many do you think opted in?

I am guessing around 2000 will have opted in again this year… but who knows! It’s so hard to tell, I have read so many posts from people that got into UCSB/waitlist but also got into LA or Cal and chose to go there instead… but that doesn’t have to mean anything

It’s kinda stupid because I feel like a lot of people opt onto the waitlist with little real intention of attending that school. That’s why the UCSD system where you have to write a 200 word explanation is so much better cause it weeds out those indifferent kids.

Let’s all hope we can get in! I’m definitely attending if offered admission!

UCSB is my last hope to make my mom feels proud of me and also me, proud of myself.
I got into ucsc but i dont really like it. The majors and the environment. I hope people who don’t have intend to attend has declined the waitlist offer and give us some chance.

Yea same here, but I do think several people accepted the waitlist offer just for the heck of it and didn’t think twice about it. :(

I don’t think that’s accurate… I spoke with the office of admissions at ucsb a few days ago and its closer to 3,100 spots that were offered on the waitlist. not sure about opting in though.

oh really? that’s good to hear, 500 less than Ms. Sun’s blog stated! Do you think they would also release any info about how many opted in if one calls and asks?

i actually called today but they didn’t give me any info. they kept saying they dont have the stats yet, not until like next week(which is when they send out accpetances) -__-

I chose UCR over UCSB for Mech. Eng.
Personal choice for the best …
Good luck guys i gave my spot up

So Im on waitlist and I sent a letter back in march to UCSB displaying my interest in their school and my credentials from senior year. Then I asked if there was any way to better my chances. They never responded, but would this have helped my chances??

sorry but no… the only thing that would change their mind is an appeal. sending a letter emphasizing your interest doesn’t do anything.

@Dimas: great to hear, gives us all a bit more hope :)

So I got an email today that my decision has been changed and I was accepted off the waitlist. :)

How come I still don’t have my decision? Does this mean I was rejected?

I got the email today too, I’m in!!!
It says in the email that all decisions will be posted by 20. May so you will get it in the next few days

the decisions are put up on the student portal… the only email i got was one saying they were beginning to go up…

but i got in off of the waitlist! :3
