How many people chosing not to take cars to UCLA.

Im going to apply for parking, no idea if I’m going to get it though, I heard it was competitive.

Um, yeah. Public transportation is not as bad as people say it is. SO many students ride the Metro, Big Blue, and Culver City buses so it’s not even shady riding those at night (come to think of it, Culver City is a bit scary, ahaha, but the other two are def. not). I rode these buses from school to my apartment at 10pm at night, and it wasn’t bad.

Also, Westwood itself is like it’s own city. You don’t need to drive anywhere or even walk far to get what you want/need. Everything is walking distance - grocery and convenience stores, restaurants, shopping, etc.

you have a moderate chance of getting a pass if you have a job that’s a certain distance from campus i think

Unfortunately I was raised extremely sheltered, poor but sheltered my family is in San Diego, the whole parking circumstances are really causing doubts for UCLA

If I go to UCLA I will probably just buy a car and commute. My car has about 350K miles on it and it can barely handle the drive from here (Rancho Cucamonga if anyone knows) to the Wiltern in Hollywood. It seriously starts to have a meltdown. I know commuting is pretty much insane but if I live in LA, I pay rent and still have a crappy car in the long term. I’m not sure what I would do. LA is totally livable without a car though. My sister lived in Korea town without a car did the subway and buses and said it was preferable. Although she did get mugged once…
Anyway, If you learn to read a bus schedule and take the train to farther places, its not bad.
Seriously, driving around in LA traffic just to run to Target or for some dinner can be the real pits.
