Transferring from UCR to UCLA...PARKING

Hi everyone, I am currently attending UCR. This month I heard that I got accepted to UCLA as a transfer student. I have visited UCLA twice, and have found that is is ALWAYS Congested, and parking is a nightmare.

I have a car at UCR, and parking and the traffic is not as bad as UCLA. Should I bring a car to UCLA?? I will be living off campus too.

Is it just me that goes to UCLA at a bad time, or does it always have traffic?

Congrats, and I’ve heard that the traffic around UCLA is god-awful. Parking is also said to be difficult to come by.

Maybe you should try living as close to the campus as possible. Lots of UCLA students live in apartments in Westwood that aren’t too far from UCLA itself. It certainly saves them the hassle of needing a car.

Traffic sucks. There’s no two ways about it because the I405 project is just an insane mess. Wilshire is crazy, Sunset isn’t much better. When you say you’ll be living off campus, do you have any idea where? The trick is to stick to somewhere close to a Santa Monica Blue line, Culver City Green line or LA MTA/Commuter line. We get some pretty nice discounts on bus fares and it saves all of the hassle.

Parking is a bit problematic to get the yellow pass, and it’s expensive as hell. Right now it’s $666 dollars a year, yeah they don’t even try to hide the fact that it’s evil.

Seriously, just bike it or ride the bus and you’ll be fine.
