How many people get the college of engineering scholarships each year?

“Students who have a 30-31 ACT or 1330-1390 SAT (math and verbal scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive a tuition supplement to bring their University-level scholarship offer up to the value of tuition. In addition, they will receive $2,500 per year for four years.”

How many people are granted this a year? I qualify and want to know what my chances are. Thank you.

There is no limit. You are guaranteed the scholarships and supplement if you meet the qualifications, and apply by the deadlines.

Your chances are 100%. There is no limit. That is an assured scholarship for those stats if you major in eng’g.

apply, submit the scholarship app, and you’ll get it all.

If the above is from ONE sitting, then you have a 1340, which qualifies.

Wow that is awesome news! What a great deal. Definitely have to look more into the school. Thanks so much! @novadad99 @mom2collegekids‌

Let us know if you have any questions.

I think you’re from Calif. There are over 900 Calif students at Bama.

@mom2collegekids‌
Yes, I am from CA. Wow that is a lot, I did see somewhere that a large percentage of students were from OOS.
I’ve been looking for a list of companies that have hired from the university, and I can’t seem to find one. Do you happen to know if ME graduates tend to be hired from large companies?

I don’t know if there is an official list. You may not know this, but the state of Alabama has the second largest research park in the nation…and it has many, many high tech large companies. …many of the ones you’ve heard of. So, getting hired by a big company is not a problem.

Huntsville/Madison County Chamber;

@mom2collegekids‌ Thank you so much again! Really valuable information. I’m so happy to see Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and more on there. This school has so much going for it, and all for a $10k COA . Thanks again!

The state of AL has a lot of great things going in its business environment. - and Progressive Policy Institute’ Tech/Info jobs index (Oct 2013) ranked Madison County AL 4th, right behind Silicon Valley (San Francisco County 1, San Mateo County 2, Santa Clara County 3). Also having a job growth of these tech/info jobs in Madison County AL at 25% over 5 years. As mom2cks said, Huntsville has the big research park and large Redstone Aresenal (with Army Aviation and Missile Command and NASA - Marshall Space Flight Center).

Look at UA admissions web site and see the info for the CA recruiter. They can provide you with info relevant for HS students from CA.

According to the Enrollment Census that came out this week, UA’s freshman Engineering Class keeps growing substantially ever year. Check out the difference between 2014 and 2011: an over 61 % increase in enrollment. http://oira.ua.edu/d/webreports/enrollment2/Fall_2014/e1_1.html</a></p>

http://oira.ua.edu/d/webreports/enrollment2/Fall_2014/e1.html</a>
http://oira.ua.edu/d/webreports/enrollment2/Fall_2013/e1.html</a></p>

And as you can see in the two links above, comparing the enrollment of all the Engineering classes, there was an increase of 661 Engineering students from last Fall to this Fall. Soon, UA will have more Engineering students than any other school in Alabama. Given that UA has the state’s first Engineering program and one of the nation’s first Engineering programs, it is kinda strange that the growth didn’t happen earlier in its history.

Growth at UA didn’t happen in eng for several reasons - including another top notch public school in AL - Auburn University (AU). UA has put a lot of focus into Engineering and STEM - esp since 2003, along with the OOS scholarships attracting students. Some AL students have ‘fallen in love’ with AU or have family/friends at AU, and as a result are not lured by extra automatic eng scholarship for high stats. DD and I for years have always been more attracted to UA than AU. I had DD go to AU engineering day just to be able to have a comparison (we went to UA’s after, so we could look for things at UA that we may have seen at AU). UA has enviable facilities (MIT profs that have been on campus have been envious of the amount of lab and other space UA’s profs have for research).

Yeah, I think Auburn getting the Land/Grant status in the nineteenth century helps to explain why it became the premier Engineering institution in the state. Most don’t know that UA wanted that status too, but lost out to Auburn. But along with the amazing growth, UA is now enrolling an Engineering freshman class equal to if not superior to that of Auburn. The avg. ACT for UA freshman Engineers last Fall was 29.2. Auburn’s was 28.5. <a href=“College of Engineering sees growth - The Crimson White”>http://cw.ua.edu/article/2013/12/college-of-engineering-sees-growth</a></p>
