How many rejected with 1300+ SAT scores?

Its a core and honors class, so it counts as an honors credit for UF

It’s not a core at my school, but since they’re counting it I’m happy.

K, so according to UF GPA:

Getting an A in a regular class would be : 4.0
Getting an A in a honors class would be : 4.5
Getting an A in a AP/Dual Enroll/ IB would be: 5.0

Correct?

^^^
You are correct. :)

zebes

Do +'s matter?

Like B+? or is a B+ just like a regular B

they do NOT matter

I think that people focus too much on scores. Maybe the reason some kids that have the SAT and GPA get rejected is because they had a mediocre essay, no real goals, and just all around not the student that UF wants. Many of the kids that have set goals, a certain “thing” they did throughout high school, and a great essay get accepted. I used to think it was all about numbers (I thought that was what most state schools were about) but after seeing some kids get accepted and then the others rejected I think it must be more about the entire student as a whole.

Also, many of the kids that I know got rejected didn’t have UF as their first choice. Many of the kids that were dying to go to UF got in.

Obviously, there are exceptions, but that’s just my observations.

Also someone said being at a private school helps you. My friend mentioned that because I go to a private school as well, and I think it might be because there isn’t much competition since it’s a smaller student body.

is a 4.27 UF gpa below average, above average , where does it stand

Well, the admitted class had an average of 4.2 - 4.4 UF GPA, so I’d say you’re in the middle of the pack.

i.e, it’s average.

^
Yet those with above a 4.0 UF GPA get admitted 85% of the time.

I regards to vacationsays, state universities will focus on GPA and test score much more than other private universities.

UF has to go through 27,000 applications. To some extent they will not be able to delve into an applicant as much as private universities.

The numerical breakdown of the freshmen profile shows the importance of certain parts of the application.

1350 sat (600 reading 750 math 600 writing)
3.8 weighted gpa
Full time duel enroll senior year
Calculus 2 and differential equations taken senior year
100+ community service hours
Decent essay
Rejected

The GPA is the problem. You can’t expect to slack off for 4 years and then have a single test bail you out. UF is looking at the whole picture, not just academics. It may be harsh to be rejected, but that’s no reason to blame UF for unfair judgment. And there are not enough spaces for every high scorer and high achiever that applies anyway. It’s a game of luck, but it also depends on how you portray yourself.

Everyone in this thread seems to be missing the fact that UF takes WRITING into account. Your two-part /1600 doesn’t mean s***. 3-part with writing/ 2400.

That thread was originally from 2008. I do not think they looked at writing then
