How many SAT 2 Test Subject exams should I take?

I’m going to be a sophomore this year, so I’m starting to look into SAT 2 tests. However, they don’t seem to be a big thing at my school, so it is hard to get advice about them. Here is the list of the ones I want to take and when.

End of sophomore year:
Math 1 ( I will have finished algebra 2 and geometry)
English (AP Lang and AP seminar this year)

End of Junior year:
Math 2 (after trig/pre-calc)
Chemistry (after AP Chem)
US History (after AP US)
Spanish or Spanish w/ listening (btw, the website say span. w/ list. is only in November)

Keep in mind that I will also be taking both PSAT and SAT both of these years, and ACT in junior year, along with AP tests and regular classwork. I also have swim and cross country to factor in.

Any advice?

Most kids with high aspirations take two. If Georgetown is on your list, though, you’ll need to take three.

I want to go to a local college for undergrad, and Duke for my graduates degree. Does that have any effect on how many I should take?

You don’t need to take this many, only take subject tests in subjects you are interested in and do well in. Don’t bother taking Math 1, the tests covers materially that is already included in the SAT so it provides schools with no additional information.

If your local school doesn’t ask for them, then don’t do them. It won’t affect your post grad. Check the reqs.

Also, for the Spanish - would you recommend the listening portion?
