How many SAT Subject Tests should I take?

Hello, most of the schools I am applying to are not Ivy League, but I do plan on applying to Columbia, Yale, and possibly Princeton. Originally, I was planning on majoring in engineering, so I decided to take the Math II and Physics tests. I did this in June. Math was fine, I got a 790, but in my junior year physics class we didn't start electricity until mid-June, so I didn't know any and scored a 650. I also took French and scored a 580.

This November, I am going to retake the Physics test (probably improving my score a good deal). However, I am wondering if I should retake the French test as well (and of course study this time.) Not so much because I'm worried about physics, but because I now plan on majoring in Math, so I am wondering if they'd like to see a more diverse set of tests.

So my question is, should I retake the French along with Physics? Thank you.

Or should I take literature?

Don’t retake French, retake physics. Most colleges want 2 SAT Subject Tests. Math II and Physics are the most impressive. Languages aren’t really highly regarded by colleges (unless that’s your major).
