Right now I'm at 11.. and going strong! I've got a spiffy Excel spreadsheet going to pace myself with the deadlines. I still have plenty to go! :)

So far I've won one (US Senate Youth), am an alternate for another, and a finalist for serveral others (incl. Claremont McKenna Achievement award and National Merit Semifinalist). The only one I've lost so far is Coca Cola's.

Out of curiosity, how many have you applied for? Won any cool ones? Am I just over the top, or is this pretty normal for motivated college bound seniors? (my friends could care less about scholarships!)

I'm going to be applying to all the ones I'm eligible for and have time to do.
So far I've won $3,000 from Skills USA - VICA to go to the New England Institute of Technology, $6,500 from the college I got accepted to, and right now, I'm applying to this Excellence in Communications scholarship from my state. $1,500 each awarded to 3 seniors (one from each county) who shows excellence in a communications field (television, broadcasting, radio, journalism, newspaper, yearbook, etc). I got nominated from my TV teacher. Have to write a 600 word or less essay on my goals in life, deadline is March 15.

I applied to the National Television Academy's John Cannon Memorial scholarship, $40,000 over 4 years for a senior majoring in a communications field. Got rejected. :(

But I'm using Fastweb for good scholarships.

Raven, I'm so jealous about the US Senate Youth! I'm the second alternate for my state, and I'm so ****ed :-P.

I'm not nearly as organized as you, but by my estimation I've done about 8 scholarship apps. Haven't won any yet, but I'm in the running for all except for Coke and AAA Travel Challenge.

Get nominated by school,
Write 2 short essays,
Take test about federal/local government and politics,
Top 10% advance to an interview in front of a panal
2 delegates selected (and 2 alternates)

(I think about 170 kids from the State applied)

Just a tip: To find good, local scholarships, I combed the websites of OTHER schools in my city (since my counselor's list was fairly sparse). I turned up a bunch of good ones!

I've applied for twenty ( over the last year...) and have recieved none!
I'm still working on the applications for ten more which will be sent off on Monday.
Wish me luck!

My son has applied for 5 or 6, plus a school-specific music scholarship. No on the Coca-Cola, hasn't heard from any of the others. Will send out 2 more next week, and has several more to do over the next couple of months (mostly local). His school does have a pretty good listing of scholarships, but we've also been looking at other area schools, Fastweb, newspapers, etc.

I've applied to five scholarships so far. I'm a semifinalist in two of them (Coca Cola and Toyota). I lost the General Motors Minority Dealers. I am waiting to hear from the Best Buy and Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards. In a week or so I'll know whether I am a finalist for Coca Cola.

I've applied for about 16...and I'm working on some more...I've only heard back from two..semi-finalist for Toyota and finalist for Yeager scholars...waiting to hear from best buy, Morrill Scholars at OSU, and the SAMMY Award..I'm working on the Ohio PTA, NFIB, William Squires, Bruce Lee, Youth Foundation, Mercedes, ERCA, along with several others...I just really need the money...and if people are willing to give it to me..I'll take it..lol
