How many students chose UC-Merced for Fall '06 (Class of 2010)?

I’m just curious because I remember reading that very few kids deposited and that they had to move the deposit date to June.

Thanks.

one kid from my school is going

I believe 400 submitted their SIR but they had originally wanted 850 students...

I'm saying this out of memory (I saw this somewhere on CC before) so I don't have any links to back up my claim.

only 3 people are going from my school, if that's any help lol.

No one is going there from my school, I don't think anyone accually applied

I got accepted to Merced but didn't go because I am going to SD....

I am pretty sure UCM acceptance rates are really high since nobody wants to go there even if they ARE accepted...

They should offer over qualified students 40k/year in addition to free tution and room and board. Maybe they can steal some of the ivy league kids and become the best uc. =)

I got accepted and didn't even apply.

were you top 12.3 % ?

Yeah, I was ELC

A few people at my school chose CC over Merced this year. :

Whats ELC? and also how do you get accepted without even applying...

http://www.ucop.edu/sas/elc/

A lot of people accept the JC or CC route (at least I know from my school) because they'd much rather transfer into a higher tier UC than Merced.

Sucks for Merced...

It's strange, they got more students in their FIRST year. Hmm.

It's very cynical of me to imply this, but it could have taken a year for word to spread out among the Merced-bound students to know of its [lack of] reputation.

you say chosing CC over Merced as if its a surprise lol

basically they need to shut it down. lol its an insult to the UC system.

I've heard some really crappy things about the school and honestly it was a big mistake to build a school there and expect people to be interested. there aren't much choices for major. i know i'm being very critical but they might as well get rid of it and have put that money towards improving the existing UCs..

"basically they need to shut it down. lol its an insult to the UC system."

Ridiculous. They just built it, why would they want to shut it down? Not every school starts out with a flagship reputation. It takes time.

actually, the buildings look really nice.

i dunno, maybe riverside should relocate to merced :)
