Just wondering how many times I should take it. I took one in April and got a 29; I took another in June and got a 29 again (it makes sense because I didn't study since the last time I've taken it). During this summer, I did some serious studying (one practice test a day for 20 days) and plan to take it again in September. My goal is to get around 32. Should I register for the October test in case I bomb the September one?

not yet. Might as well wait.

I’m only planning on taking the SAT.

I think that you’ll do better in September if you know that you don’t have a safety net waiting for you in October. You might as well study now and get it over with. (Although, this is kind of how I think about it. I don’t know your study habits; it’s just that knowing the Oct. is waiting for me, I’d probably procrastinate with the studying.)

4 times in 8th grade
once in 10th.

once, probably not going to take it again. i don’t really think it’s that big of a deal.

twice. nahh, don’t waste your money if you don’t have to.

I’m about to take it for a third time.

A third and LAST time. I’m not wasting anymore time or money on it.

Once and I’m pretty sure that it is my only time taking it. I would have to significantly improve in one of the sections just to go up a point or two, so I see no point in it. The good part is that I scored a 30, which is just a point above the average of where I plan to attend anyway :)

^^I like that attitude. People on here cry about a 30, and I find that ridiculous since it is a perfectly good score (I mean, most people score in the lower 20s, so how isn’t it a good score).

I’ve taken it twice (24 and then 25 with hardly any studying in between) and September is my last chance. I’m hoping to jump three points.

I say only sign up for October also if you think that you won’t reach your target score. If you think you can only get up to a 30 in September and you won’t be happy with that, then sign up for October too.

i need to go from 32 to a 34!!! to have chance at ivy league.

7, but you know what they say, 8th time is the charm!

lol charlie brown
are you serious??
no offense but that seems a little excessive =/

Wow, I though I had taken it too much CB.

Not really :P

I’m planning to go for 7 times myself. I’ve had an upward trend so it seems beneficial to take it a lot. :D

24->27->28->26->32-> (next time omg :D).

Took it once in 8th grade and got a 24. Took it twice last year (junior year) and got 29 on both of them. The individual scores fluctuated, which hurt me. Like, in 8th grade I had my best reading score. I’m planning on taking it for a fourth time, third time that may be sent to college, in September. I haven’t done as much prep, so I am not sure if I will end up actually registering for Sept. or Oct.

Once
I got a 34 on the first go

still trying to figure out how that one happened

rocket6louise: Same here! And as a soph! o.0

But I’m going to do it one more time. So twice in total.
I could not imagine doing it 4-10 times lol. Crazy to me!

jayay-why on god’s green earth are you retaking a 34??
