For top-tier colleges? Most colleges?

I took it four times in two years, but I hear thrice is the usual recommended maximum (at least from people here on CC and Stanford admissions). And yes, I watch Conan not thrice, but four times a week;)

Alright, thanks. I don’t get the Conan reference though, haha…

i think that is bull…take it as many times as u want because i am pretty sure you have to report ur scores for colleges to see them
however, just make sure u have an improvement every time you take it

I agree with theScintillate. As long as you keep improving your scores, it’s fine to take it multiple times. Know though, that you usually have to submit all your registered scores to the colleges you apply to. That means that if you take the exam twice your sophomore year, thrice your junior year, and “frice”(ye!) your senior year, colleges will see ALL your scores when you submit them senior year.

Most people can’t raise their score by much after the 3rd time so I think that’s why people suggest 3 times. If you can improve significantly then I’d say go for it because it might be worth it! Personally I want to take it fewer times and study more between each test.
