Okay, so I took the SAT in June, TECHNICALLY as a sophomore. Should that test count toward my 3 times? I was planning on taking it in Janurary but if that counts as my 2nd time, I won't be able to take it again until my senior year....
I made a 1900 in June (not near the 2200+ I want). So should I go ahead and take it in jan and count it as my first try or wait a little while? Thanks all.

IF you have prepared and have the money, then go for it. Why 3 times?

@albert69 well, it seems like I’ve always heard taking the test more than 3 times is looked upon badly…

3 is surely not a lot. In reality the number of times you take the exam doesn’t matter because of score choice. Colleges don’t know you used scores choice, so you could take the SAT 7 times and send one score and they will think that’s your only score. Might be unethical but nobody give a fudge
