How many W's you have? effect chance?

Woww! Just came across this thread and saw some interesting stats(19Ws Ucla!!!), is there any recent admits that can confirm or deny these?!

Haha wow you are awesome dude 58 years old and back in school I admire that

hi, im a college student at PCC and im planning to apply for the undergraduate architecture program of UCLA, and i got 2 Ws so far and both of them are on the major courses. but theres no transfer reqiurement for any major courses to complete at PCC before transfer. so will the Ws of the major course affect my chance of getting in?

@nickc1981

It could possibly since they were both in major classes, though it’s unlikely it will. I would meet with a UCLA counselor though to get their opinion.

i had roughly 10 Ws, been to 3 different CCC before my most recent one and had academic probation at 2 of them, worked like crazy to raise my gpa and was accepted this cycle to UCD (my first choice) and UCSC as a bio major. i don’t think the # of Ws matters as long as you have a good trend or if the Ws were from a long time ago. if it matters im 25

i have 6 W’s :frowning: idk if thats bad? I’m trying to transfer to cal state fullerton or san diego state.

i am about to drop 4 classes on my first semester of college, i overloaded myself and tried to work 35 hours a week on top of doing classwork. will this affect me transferring to other schools? I am attending community college in Georgia

UC’s are pretty lenient about W’s, especially if you have a good reason.

Wow this thread was made five years ago. Let’s talk about recent applicants.

I was dismissed from UCD last year due to bad grades. The counselor/adviser told me that to get readmitted, i would need to get no grade lower than a D or F. Also, I need a GPA of at least 3.1. I know that while i have a little easier than people who start from scratch at a cc, the decision of whether i get readmitted is with the dean. He/she would take into consideration that i have a routine of taking W’s and that i had been failing student in the past.

I dropped chemistry last semester, so i got a W, and ended up taking a B for the only class i was taking, calculus 1. This semester, i wanted to be a full time student to get financial aid at the cc i attend, so i added social problems, which is nothing but leftist propaganda. I didn’t drop the class on time, and got a W for that class. Then i added Art history, which until yesterday, i thought i could ace. I did fairly well on my first midterm, but yesterday the midterm was so hard. The teacher is also ridiculous and very mean. I really want to drop it, but that means i would have two W’s in a single semester, in addition to the W last semester.

Do you think this would affect me? I think i would drop it regardless, though, because the stress from this stupid class is going to affect me in my other classes, which are major classes.

You seem to be following the same pattern of taking Ws that resulted in your dismissal from UCD. How many chances do you think you are going to get?

yada yada i have 10+, accepted to ucd/uci/ucla 3.4 last year, non impacted

have a positive track record and a killer statement, and have good amount of pre-reqs required and you have a good chance to at least a 2nd tier school…

keep hope friends…
