How many...

Books should I bring to college?

DVDs?

Pairs of shoes?

Pairs of earrings/necklaces?

I've been packing and it seems like I have a ton of stuff. I want to cut some of it out and I need ideas. So...how much is too much stuff?

I'm brining

DVDs: about 100 in a cd binder

Pairs of shoes: about 5 pair

Jewelry: none, but I don't wear any so this doesn't apply to you

I have been told by my already-in-college friends that this falls within the realm of normal, although most of them brought their dvds in original cases so they didn't have space for as many

about 5 pairs of shoes makes sense (one pair of tennis shoes, one pair of running shoes, 1 pair of semi-casual heels, one pair of flip flops, and one pair of dressy shoes...oh yeah and i forgot shower shoes!)
The DVD binder sounds good but I don't really like DVDs myself...I just download movies or watch them with other people
Books: why bother if there's a library right there
Jewelry: I wear a fair amount of jewelry..maybe enough to fill a ziploc?

ive been told that bringing books is useless because ND has an awesome library. books for your courses or major that is, but we'll see in 2 weeks.

in terms of shoes, im a guy so its a different situation for me, but im bringing: dress shoes, tennis shoes, running shoes, flip flops, brown shoes and i guess thats it.

Books: probably none, if I realize eventually that I have time to read alot then I'll bring a few then.

DVDs: I'll bring whatever is mine from my house, but I'm bringing them in their cases so I probably can't too many

Shoes: a bunch of flip flops, sneakers, casual shoes, and dress shoes

jewelry: the things I wear on a daily basis

I'm only bringin my favorite books and dvd's, ones I would watch/read over and over again. Other than that I'm leaving them at home and if I ever really want them I can bring them back after breaks.

I'm bringing about 30 DVDs, 20 pairs of shoes, all my jewelry (It doesn't take up that much room!) and only a few books. Of course I love shoes and I like being able to have the freedom to pick out my outfit and stuff by having a wide variety of my shoes there with me.

DVD's, probably about 20 or so (that's pretty much all I have)... books, probably just Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings (the only books I actually OWN).

Shoes, a few pair of old navy flip flops in various colors that I wear often (red, white, blue, orange, pink), my favorite brown flip flops that are supercomfy, two pairs of sneakers, a pair of dress shoes, shoes to dance in (need to buy these), and my birkenstocks.

Jewelry, I don't wear any on a daily basis but one of my friends sent me a bracelet a few weeks ago that is absolutely adorable and has sentimental value so I will be bringing it, but that's it.

im not bringing any dvds or books.
but im bringing 50 pairs of shoes..
i guess im a sneakerhead

Just bring whatever you rhingk you're going to use. it's not like you're goin on vacation, you're moving out of your house for 8 months. If you live close by you can leave part of it at home and exchange stuff part way through the year, if not then bring anything you think you might need during the school year.

one pair of shoes, one pair of boots for trudging through pouring rain, snow, or the eventual garbage dump my room will become. probably won't bring shower flip flops since mine is semiprivate, but we'll see.

tons of game cds (they're discs, so i can count them here, right?) and movie cds (laptop has a small HD, so i have to use hard copies, bah). probably won't bring the few dvds i actually own.

am a dude, no jewelry. however, living with only males may turn me into a flaming homosexual, so we'll see what my jewelry status is in a few months.

books: five at the most - my two favorites and up to three others in the hopes that i'll get around to reading them during the year (probably won't).

I'm bringing a few of my favorite novels that I like reread, and my dictionary and my thesaurus. Besides that, there's the library. Books take up too much room.

I am taking about 10 of my favorite DVDs. I'm bringing DVDs that I think would be fun to watch with other people, like Old School, or movies I like to watch while working out, like Chicago. The treadmills at the rec center have DVD players in them.

I don't have tons of shoes so I'm going to bringing almost all of them, except a couple pairs I never wear. I don't want to end up needing a certain type of shoes and have to go out and buy them with my nonexistent money!

I have a diamond necklace and diamond earrings, and I'm leaving them at home because I don't want them to get stolen. I am bringing my white gold bangle bracelet and a few pieces of costume jewelry, but I really don't wear much, and for the most part you won't be dressing up so there's no need for lots of different styles and colors of earrings and necklaces.

Whoa- 20-50 pairs of shoes, surely you jest...

Anyway, it seems like what I was planning to bring falls withing the realm of normal: 6-7 pairs of shoes, 50 DVDs, maybe 10 books (mostly Chinese reference books, a chem textbook, MLA handbook, a Bible, and Football for Dummies :-P), and enough jewelry to fill a couple of those little organizer boxes from Office Max.

Shoes: 5-6 pairs. I'm a girl, but I don't anticipate needing all 3 pairs of heals that I own or or more than one pair of the semi-formal shoes that I wore to my private hs with a uniform. I'm a sneaker person, so there will be about 3 pairs and then one pair of flipflops.

Books: Just 2 or 3, I can't get into most books, so there are very few that I like. I also read really slowly.

DVDs: 10 max. I'm not staying in every weekend to watch a movie that I could watch whenever. I'm just bringing a few that people would like for some kind of group movie.

Jewlery: I have my hs class ring and a braclet from a REALLY close guy friend that I wear every single day, and then I'm bringing the earrings that I wear the most. I don't want to take a whole bunch to end up loosing them.
