Moving my stuff to college

What did you bring to college when you moved there? I have a personal library of 300+ books I cannot bear to part with, yet the college I want is on the other side of the country. I also have some stuff I would like to bring. What did you bring, and how did you bring it?

You don’t need to bring your entire library with you. Seriously. That’s insane. I brought four or five books with me to college and my Kindle and read half of one of Lance Armstrong’s book the entire semester on my computer.
My suitemate brought about 10 books with her and read one. I don’t think I knew anyone else that actually brought books with them that weren’t necessary in some capacity for school.

I brought about two dozen movies (in a CD case) with me, clothes (obviously) – but not a lot, an extra bed spread, a few things to decorate with, snacks, a stuffed animal, my computer, a printer, etc.
If it didn’t fit in my mom’s Mercury Mariner, it didn’t go. I had a few things mailed that I forgot, but that’s about it.

You’re not “parting” with your books. They’re still yours you just won’t have hands on access all the time.

i wouldnt bring 300 books. you will not have room for 300 books in a dorm room

I dont think I will either. Pretty much all of said books are in history, polisci, economics, and nonfiction material I intend to study in college. So I will bring some.

How did you bring your stuff to college? The books are the bulk of my moving. Did you drive with your possessions cross country, or ship them seperately?
