How much are bikes at the auction/bike barn?

How much usually are used bikes sold at UC Davis? I’m thinking of buying a used cruiser for $100 from a previous student, and I was wondering if that was a good idea?

Im not sure about the auction, but you should find out what the retail price of the cruiser is. I know walmart sales them for like $100-150, but the one your buying may be a lot higher quality.

Don’t buy bikes from there. They’re not the best, and they charge you as if they are the best bikes available. So I would suggest you try out mikesbikes or bikesdirect (just google those). Have it delivered to your dorm or wherever. For Davis, I’d recommend a mountain bike. I know people like road bikes because they’re faster. However, mountain bikes are sturdier and can take a heavier beating. For example, you can roll off a sidewalk without destroying your rims. And plus mtbs are much easier to balance if you’re not use to Davis bike traffic. It can be scary at times on a road bike if you’re turning your front wheel left and right like a maniac trying to balance during rush hour around the loops. If you’re willing to pay $100 for a used bike, you might as well spend about 50 bucks more and get a brand new bike. With old bikes, you never know when their wheels might pop, or brakes suddenly stop working. Unless of course it’s a trustworthy source like a friend.
