See title. I guess some fraternities have higher dues than others, so a range would be helpful.

It varies, some houses have meals and I believe that there some groups that don't have houses. I believe I read $975 to $2400. Son lives out of the house and have been told it is $1300 per term. Plus national fees and other stuff--t'shirts, paddles and other greek stuff.

Hope that helps.

Fraternity dues can be expensive at the better IFC Fraternities.

They can run from $800 a semester to 1,800.

However, the trade off is that you may be able to live in the Fraternity House, and eat the meal plan as well (at a cheap rate). Overall you could actually save money by being a member of a Fraternity.

How much of an impact can fraternities have on grades?

It's an expensive way to bypass all social requirements. :)

"How much of an impact can fraternities have on grades?"

Well it depends on how hard your classes are your Pledge Semester. If you are going to join, then I must first advise you to take those large lecture classes that have Einstein Notes to provide what is covered in the lecutres. Also only take about 4 courses as well.

When you become a brother it really just depends on your own personal study habits. By and large the Greek Male GPA is about equal with the Average Male Undergraduate GPA at UF.

I would think the study time lost by pledging could be counterbalanced by advice on cheating/coercion with brothers in the same classes and easy classes/professors to take(the impression I got from talking to frat guys while rushing). The avg GPA is a little higher for frats but probably the mean family income is also a little higher.

^ Bitter you didn't get a bid?
