how much are interviews weighted?

Hey, does anyone know how much NU looks into interviews? I know there website says they aren't a major piece, but I had a really awesome interview, and my interviewer told me I seemed like a perfect fit. I'm just wondering if this could make a larger impact then there website may allude to

Let us hope, they do to you! Good Luck.

The Northwestern CDS says “Considered” - so It will definitely add to your application!! All the best! :)

All it can do is add some, but it isn’t a major portion of the application.

To be honest, I really don’t think they play much of a role. When I applied last year, the interview for NU was my worst by far, and I still got in RD. But then again, they consider every part of an application, so it can’t hurt. Good luck!

I’m guessing they have an almost non-existant impact on the process. My official interviewer never even actually attended NU, only her husband and her children. For NU, at least, interviewing is just a major way to keep alumni and potential donors involved.

de minimis

As said above, I doubt it’s of importance. I wasn’t interviewed and just got accepted, so no worries! =D

I feel like it might help though; I had a great interview and was accepted.

I feel it doesn’t really…my interviewer asked me little to no questions, and just talked about her own experience. She kind of set the tone so it was more informative for me to learn about Northwestern rather than an interview to assess me as a person.
(Accepted, btw).

they say interviewer can break you but cannot make you. Awsome interview will, obviously, have some positive factor. But that won’t change rejection letter to admission letter. But if you have a really bad interview, i heard that can badly influence your decision. Idk if this is true, but that is what i heard.
I got accepted to WCAS without interview

Yeah, I think a great interview will influence your application in a positive light, but it won’t be the ultimate deciding factor or anything like that.
I personally had a really good interview, and I got accepted RD. I think the interview fluffed my application just a little bit.

However, I do agree that a bad or horrible interview can be a deal breaker.

I personally know of a case, when my friend who interviews for Brown, specifically wrote to the admission office not to accept this student…yet this one was accepted. My friend put that down to some diversity factor. Go figure!

Did not interview, was accepted (to McCormick).
