If I don’t schedule an alumni interview for Northwestern University, will this have a significant negative impact on my application?
Please don’t encourage me to do it just to “get it over with.” I’m applying to a lot of schools, and I don’t want to spend time on an interview if it’s essentially meaningless.
I don’t think alumni interviews have any impact at all. Only do it if you think you’d gain something by it.
Oh okay. I was reading a few different places and saw some people saying it’s more for gaining information about the university.
Interviews are not necessary at NU. I am father of 2 NU alums, one was admitted ED and one RD - neither interviewed. Also -They did not take any SAT II’s, which are “recommended, but not required” at NU.
Good luck with your college decisions.
@nugraddad - they’ve kind of downgraded the SAT II’s to “optional” now, except for the obvious (ISP, HPME, homeschool applications, etc.) in which case they are required. But McCormick, Weinberg: optional. The CDS says they are “required for some” but the “recommended” box isn’t checked.
I am conducting NU interviews today in Southwest FL. Not having an interview will not hurt you. It can only help.
