I took the SAT in grade 11 and I got a 1500 in total (3 sections). (CR: 490 WRITING: 460 MATH: 550)

I took it this year (grade 12) and I got 1790. (CR: 510 WRITING: 590 MATH: 690)

I improved a lot in math because I did the AS level math (P1 and M1).
Unfortunatley my Critical Reading SUCKED BAD. Barely improved :(
I studied for about 3 weeks in total.

Anyway, I got the scores I need, but I want to take it for fun this time. Take it as a challenge. I want to do it in May, which is like 4 months of study.

Do you think I can get above 2000? Above 2100 maybe?

Side note: I'm doing A2 math this year which would probably help a lot with my math section.
Writing needs more practice I guess.

I don’t think you can get above a 2000, but 1800 or so seems possible. Go for it. I took the SATs three times, and the third time i was like “why the heck am i here?” but I got my best one time score and boosted my superscore up 100 points! I never studied either so you definitely have potential if you study

I went from a 1730 (M620,W600,CR510) to a 2190 (M800,W710,CR680) superscore. A 460 score raise from Oct 2009 to Oct 2010, that is. that isAll you need to do is study like hell and read alot. And do the test a couple of times. I did SAT I four times and probably did like 20-25 practice tests.

…um… Bdangle I got an 1800 minus 10 points this time. So you’re saying by studying for 4 months I might get an extra 10 points “or so”. whatever man.

@mq, I meant high 1800s. Of course, people are different and so you cannot base your possibilities on Swede’s, because he had a huge increase in his score. You will reach a point where you cannot get any higher. You should def take it again but don’t expect a 2100. It’s possible but not very likely. I only went from a 1990 to a 2110, but Swede went from a 1730 to a 2190. I wasn’t putting you down (and i didnt mean a flat 1800) I’m just saying you reach a point where more testing is a waste of money

Do the official SAT I study guide by college board and the princeton review of the SAT, and take a class. My score went up 100 points in 3 weeks and I didnt even study for full length practice tests. Kaplan Sat prep is not that good, my score went from a 1680 to a 1810 in 4 weeks in my sophomore year, but you can definitely get it higher if you take 45-60 mins a day preparing. Most people who get serious point gains get it from the math section, which is the easier section for most people to get score increases. Do as many triangle, logic, and algebra problems as you can, which is what my cousin did, and he went up 100 points in a month through the math section.
