how much do you think i could raise my GPA in one semester?

My college GPA. If i took about 18 credits. How many points do you think it would go up if I did my absolute best and got straight A's?

This is a math question missing practical numbers, but here goes…

If you have 18 credits with a 2.0 and do 18 more credits with a 4.0, you’d then have a 3.0 average.

However, if you have 18 credits at a 2.0 and add another 18 credits of 3.0 work, your overall average would only bump up to a 2.5.

Finally, one more example–18 credits at a 2.0 and then doing a ton more classes say 36 credits at a 4.0 your end average of all 54 credits would be a 3.33 gpa.

So it depends – give us your starting gpa and number of units–and your target gpa and then we can tell you what you need to do to get it.

or, you can plug it in yourself:

((starting GPA * number of credits taken) + (18*4))/(18 + number of credits taken)

ok sorry here are some numbers.

1st semester of freshman year I took 14 credits and had a 3.1 GPA. 2nd semester I took 17 credits and had a 2.667 for the year overall.

So if I take 18 credits next semester and get all A’s… what will my overall GPA be?

I tried plugging it into that formula and got a 3.15? Does that sound right?

yeah
