During my first semester this year (I'm a freshman) I was getting used to the whole high school thing and wasn't able to do my best grades-wise. I don't have a bad GPA now (3.3) but I am capable of a much higher GPA, if I apply myself completely(which I plan to do second semester). Will I be able to raise it by much, or no? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

assuming u get a 4.0 for the rest of high school...

You'd end up with a 3.87 ish by the end of your junior year. Which is high enough to apply anywhere... :)

Oh, that's a relief. Thanks much!!

no ...

Freshman Yr
First Semester: 3.3
Second/Third/Fourth Semester: 4

sooo

fresh: 3.825
soph: 4.0
jun: 4.0

3.9416/4.0 is the highest possible GPA you can get :P you're not getting into college sorry

"First Semester: 3.3
Second/Third/Fourth Semester: 4"

??? there are only two semesters in a year. not four. that's quarters

Oh no (faints) , not a 3.9!!!
Sad thing is, I know some people that actually think they won't get into college with under a 4.0.

Don't worry. A lot of schools don't count freshman year.

If u take ap and honor classes they would give u 10% more in ur class which can let u have 4.0+.

you'll be able to raise it by a lot...dont worry about your gpa too much, just try to do the best you can, you still have a lot of time to improve!

when people post up their GPAs on CC, does it include their freshman year? are you supposed to include it when you tell people your GPA?

Don't think you blew it already. Colleges want to see an upward trend. Try to get a 4 every other semester and don't let anything stand in the way :) I had a similar thing happen to me and found out that it won't really matter so I've improved a lot (I'm now a junior and have a 3.8 unweighted).
