I was waitlisted by UW and have written an appeal, which I think makes a really strong case for me to be accepted. I asked a teacher for a letter of recommendation and she said yes, but our school just got shut down due to coronavirus and she’s been extremely busy trying to get the school set up for remote learning and said that she won’t be able to have a letter done by Friday (two weeks from when I got the result). We have a strong relationship and I think she’ll write a good letter of recommendation that will help my case a lot, but is it worth the wait? Does waiting longer mean a smaller shot of getting an appeal accepted? How much does UW value a good letter of recommendation for appeals? I’ve read that UW tends to accept waitlisted applicants who appeal early because it allows them to accept off of the waitlist before usual, and that two weeks after the result is ideal.
Thanks!
