How much does applying early affect chances?

I applied today to the University of Pittsburgh. I'm dying to get into the main campus, which is 15 mins away from my home and a 3 minute walk to the hospital my mom works at. Along with being on the high honor roll, for my high school career, I've had some mess ups, like my 1700 SAT score. My GPA however is very good, with a rigorous class load of APs and college courses. Everything was sent today, and I am always told apply early because it shows major interest. I am applying for general classes. They send me mail, they even sent me a letter waiving my essay to make the application process easier because they're 'as interested in me as I am in them'. So bottom line is, how much does applying early affect chances?

It helps because not as many people apply early so you’re compared against less people. HOWEVER, there has been a trend recently of very strong students applying early in order to get scholarship money ASAP.

Even though Pitt said you don’t need to send an essay I think you ought to if you are concerned about getting in. The more things you send to Pitt (essay, LORs, resume of activities) for a complete application, the more holistically they can judge you. Plus by putting in more effort than the minimum required, you are showing them that you are really interested in going to school.

I’m assuming you’ve already done an official tour of the school if you live close, but in the case that you haven’t, go ahead and do that too.

Applying early helps A LOT. I applied to northeastern and got in with 5 AP classes, 2090 on the SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.3 W GPA, one high school club, one out of school sport, and 13th in the class. The valedictorian of our school, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.6 W GPA, who took 10 AP classes between jr and sr year, and was in multiple HS clubs including nhs, bottlecappers, senior council, deca, etc. applied regular decision and was denied. In my opinion, based on stats alone, she should have been accepted if i was.

Yes, I’ve toured! Since Pitt is rolling, do they get my application early and review it early, or wait till the fall? Because in the letter, it said that when they get my application, they will come to an admission decision and inform me of it within 3 weeks of getting it. Does that mean I will know this summer?

No, for summer applicants you have to wait until they start giving out admission (generally the last week of September or the first week of October). But by the end of October you should have a response.
