I'm turning Sophomore at UCI. I heard that the member fee is expansive in sororities... I know that I will know more about the dues and fees at the time of recruitment orientation, and it depends on lots of things. But I still want to know in advance. What is the estimated membership dues and fees? Thanks!

That is the question everyone wants to know! But honestly, each sorority has different amounts of money. The first quarter you join is always the most expensive (sometimes over 500$), but then any quarter after is under 500$. However, there are some very expensive sororities. Like Pi Phi has the most expensive dues because they have a chef that cooks all of the meals. Some people think its worth it to pay extra for the chef, some don’t.

Even though it is expensive, it is EXTREMELY worth it. You’re not “paying for friends”, because honestly it is so much more. A tip of advice- if you fall in love with a sorority during fall recruitment- GO FOR IT. And for the first 1/2 months, you don’t have to pay until you are initiated. In that period of time you can decide if this sorority is worth the amount of money it is costing. Its kind of like a trial period- ALSO, there are scholarships that will help you pay for things or payment plans for certain sororities.

If you are worried about paying, ask the girls in recruitment. Most will give you an honest answer. Good luck and hopefully I will see you during recruitment.

Check out multicultural orgs! Their dues are significantly lower, their rush is free as well. So you dont have to pay to neet the girls
