How much does it help to be class president?

How much does it help your admissions chances to be class president?

Is it still impressive if there are only 52 students in the class?

It helps, obviously - it shows that you have solid leadership qualities and excellent people skills. However, if you’re aiming for the top schools, bear in mind that there will be lots of other class presidents applying too, some of whom are presidents of student bodies consisting of over 500 members. In short, it will help you, but if you get accepted, that will most likely not be the only reason why.

Basically what fledgling said. Being class president shows that you are a leader regardless of the number of kids in your class but you’ll be competing against people who have the same qualifications so you want to have other things that stand out too.

It is less impressive in a smaller setting, but it can’t hurt, especially if you’ve been heavily involved and instrumental in your school’s administration, which will likely be expressed in your counselor/teacher recs. Basically, it’s a good thing but nothing standout.
