The title pretty much sums it up. I took a pretty tough course load this year (AP Calc BC, AP Bio, AP Comp Gov, AP Lit, H Physics, Italian 4) and I’ll most likely have 2 Bs (worst case scenario 3) at the mid-semester report. I’ve gotten straight A’s the last two years, so I’m worried that this will look like a downwards trend. How much emphasis does Stanford place on mid-semester grades for applicants doing early action? Will these grades kill my chances?

Its hard to answer this question without really knowing what your application, transcript, SAT/ACT scores and essays look like. Certainly, its not helpful but you are looked at holistically. Keep in mind that there are students who will have a 4.0, 1600 on the SAT, 36 on the ACT, a cure for cancer on their activities list, and they will not be accepted. Its the toughest school in the country to be accepted to, so be open minded. No one is a shoe in. All you can do is try. Good Luck
