<p>The College Board say it's worth 1/3 of the writing score, but what exactly does that mean? Do they calculate the writing score based on the top mark of 12, or the top mark of 6? And how much difference (in overall points) is it going to make if you score a 5 instead of a 6 or a 10 instead of a 12, say?</p>
<p>Lets say you have 45 correct out of 49 on the MC and 10/12 on the essay. This is what you do: 45/49 multiplied by 800 multiplied by 0.7. Then 10/12 multiplied by 800 multiplied by 0.3. Add them both up and then you have a pretty accurate Writing score (give or take 10 or 20 points, depending on the curve)</p>
