I got a 1370 on the November SAT but my essay score was a 15. In August I got a 1300 but my essay score was a 17. Should I send both scores so that colleges receive the higher essay score, or is the 2 points just not worth it? I’d rather them not see my 1300, but if you think the lower essay score would hurt me, then I’ll send it. I just don’t know which scenario would be better
Most colleges superscore, so this involves the essay too if I’m not mistaken. I wouldn’t be worried, just send both. Superscoring involves taking the highest section from both tests, and I’m sure taking the highest essay too. It doesn’t matter what you got before, the point is you got a 1370 now. I got a 17 essay score too, I’m not really worried about retaking or how high it should be. Most schools don’t weigh the essay too much anyway, but it’s entirely up to you.
I would recommend only send your 1370 and 15 essay. Look at the policies of the colleges you are applying to, but most of them don’t require the essay and therefore will not be a deciding factor in your admissions decision. Especially if it is only a 2 point difference. Colleges will be able to tell the type of writer you are from your supplemental essays as well. Just send the 1370.
