How much does your indicated major count for

I would think it does not normally have too much of a factor, I listed my top choice as geosciences (made it very clear that this was my major interest in my essays, I have been published etc, brown’s geoscience program is the best program etc and that’s why I want to go to brown etc) and engineering as my 2nd choice. I know that the geoscience is really small there, as in maybe only 40 total undergrads or fewer, and when I visited a admissions guy told me during the physical science tour that they are looking for geoscience majors. What do you guys think, am I grasping at straws, or am I hitting the nail on the head by making a argument for why I should be admitted into brown? otherwise I would not be a very interesting candidate, and I am not that competitive compared to the people with 4.0’s and 2400’s, I’d put myself %50 SAT bracket depending how they look at it. Does Brown just play by the number’s game? I know they say they don’t, which is the only thing giving me hope at this point, but they could just replace me with somebody with better scores just to improve their stats and they would never think twice about it. Any thoughts? any hope?

Who knows if these things will make a difference. It’s good that you have been published though.

guess we’ll find out Monday then

I think it would help you :)
