Hi, I wanted to create this thread so that current international students can share how much financial aid they’re receiving in college. The information that we have from colleges are averages that also include the aid to domestic students, which are generally higher, so they are not too helpful. It helps a lot when we get the real numbers.
Please share which college/university you go to, how much you’re receiving, whether its need or merit based and your stats if it is merit based. This will help me and a lot of other students when selecting colleges. Thanks!
Many colleges and universities publish the Common Data Set. Section H6 breaks out financial aid statistics for international students only. Sometimes (but often not) you can see the same information on the Collegeboard page of a college, in the International Student section.
Thank you that is very helpful.
Do all colleges publish the CDS? Are there some who don’t?
Some of them do not publish CDs but they publish some data in their websites
I don’t get financial aid. I get full tuition+1250$/year merit scholarshoip
I got full tuition + $2500 /yr. I turned that down to attend a better university without aid.
@wolfwing123 is that university of alabama?
Anyway, unless you are stinky rich don’t go into debt for prestige
@paul2752 Yup it was. I gave it some thought and realized that the prestige wasn’t worth the extra money. I committed to UA.
we should hang out lolz…
$50k per year for an LAC
I got $21k a year for one school, $15k a year for another, $18k for two schools, and a full ride to another. I am, however, attending a school that did not give me a single penny of aid. (To be fair, the no aid school is my dream school and all the schools that gave me aid are significant safeties)
Not me, but a friend of mine got into UChicago with an SAT around 2000 and gets $75k per year.
Must have had something very noteworthy !
hey@paul2752 which school gave you full ride? and what’s your SAT score?
@koreanstudent which school gave you full ride? @Barksdale which LAC is that?
hey @paul2752 which school gave you full ride? and what’s your SAT score?
University of Alabama-NOT full ride. Full tuition+ 2500$/year engineering scholarship.
My Math+CR was 1410. it was before the SAT revamp.
@gigichuck I got a full ride at St. Mary’s University
Offered $55k at Columbia
