I was wondering how much financial aid I could expect to receive as an OOS student. Last year's taxable income was in the 70's, maybe a little higher this year, but nothing above 100k. How much would you speculate I receive at UVA?

It’s impossible for us to give you even a ballpark as it takes into consideration so many variables. Through AccessUVa they meet 100% of demonstrated need for all students, instate and OOS. Have you tried using the net price calculator? I can’t speak to how accurate it is to what your actual award will be as they didn’t exist the year my son applied.

<a href=“Net Price Calculator”>Net Price Calculator;

Like blueiguana said, it would be extremely difficult for us to predict that given the limited/restricted information.

The sooner you get accurate information submitted to financial aid, the sooner you will find out.

Keep in mind, that meeting 100% of demonstrated need also assumes summer jobs, work study, and federal loans. It does not automatically assume any use of parent PLUS loans or private loans. You can turn down part of a financial aid package (such as a work study job), if you can find another way to pay for it.

Also, UVa has a policy of increasing aid after a student takes out a certain amount of federal loans. That threshold is sometimes reached in a student’s last semester.

In addition, keep in mind that financial aid doesn’t take into account parent debts, primary or secondary tuition bills, or areas with high costs of living. It does take into account whether a sibling is in college at the same time.
