How much do you suggest putting on a Campus Cash card? I'm not looking to use it as a debit card because I have my own (and can earn rewards points! w00t for Wamu!) but for things like washing machines, etc. Actually, what else is there that Campus Cash is good for (besides being used as a debit card at stores/restaurants)???

But, yea, sooo how much $$$ do you recommend?

I only really used mine for Laundry ($1 to wash $1 to dry) cause I never had quarters, and occasionally at the dorm vending machines, because I was out of cash. Everywhere else you go, debit cards are pretty much accepted, so theres no real need to go overboard on the campus cash. I probably used about $20 a semester or so. You can put more on it online with your debit card, or in most buildings with cash, it's probably better to aim lower, cause once it's on you're nyu card, you can't use it at non nyu-card places.

i was wondering that also. it seems that the only thing that i would use campus cash for would be laundry. everything else i would just use my debit or credit

my 10 meal plan had 250 Declining Dollars on it.
DD dollars are quite different than CC though. DD are on your meal plan, and can only be used at the convienence stores in the dining halls, or to buy a meal if you run out/have a guest. Even if you don't use them, they disappear at the end of the semester.

Campus Cash can be used all the places Declining Dollars can, but lots of other places too, like laundry, vending machines, neighborhood restaurants and grocery stores, bookstores, tons of places. The money carries over as long as you are at NYU. It's in no way connected to your meal plan. It's sort of just like having cash restricted to be used a certain places, and can be refilled at any time. The only real benefit to CC is that sometimes you get discounts for using it, and you don't have to worry about quarters/small change for laundry and stuff.

Declining dollars is basically a debit account which you can use at any dining hall to buy food. The amount varies by meal plan, and you can add to it at any time. It also works at select starbucks and dunkin donuts.
