Is it worth it? Or should we just put money in my son's bank account?

It’s handy for laundry depending on where your child lives.

I also didn’t have a credit card until halfway through college, so I used Campus Cash to pay for meals around campus.

I was in Kmart around the corner just an hour or two ago and they take campus cash, it’s insane. It seems like everywhere you go, they take campus cash. I’m just saying, you’re not as limited as it would seem.

my dad put a large sum on my campus cash last year and to be honest it wasn’t really worth it. the only time it was useful was at the nyu bookstore. a ton of stores, restaurants, etc take campus cash but it’s such a hassle and it always takes longer for the cashier to ring someone up. i would say but some money on it (for laundry and bookstore) but otherwise it’s no more convenient than having a debit card.

i don’t have a meal plan so my dad put some money on my campus cash for dining in dining halls. you pay a little more out of pocket for the meal, however. it’s also useful for things such as picking up prescriptions in the NYU Health Center, Ticket Central and it’s required for laundry in certain dorms.
