just wondering.

Take a science class here . . . NO.

I’m pretty sure the average GPA as far as engineering goes is slightly lower than other engineering schools. At least that’s what I’ve heard.

Grade inflation at Ross is high, but that’s true of many business schools. In LSA (particularly natural sciences) and CoE, there’s very little, if any, inflation. Average GPAs of both those areas is possibly under 3.0.

Only class I’ve taken so far where this was explicitly stated gave out B or higher for 80% of the class, although 15% got an A. No one who finished had lower than a D. I’m sure for natural science or math classes that isn’t the case.

It varies quite a bit from class to class.

^ Interesting

http://gradeinflation.com/Michigan.html: Average GPA at Michigan is 3.27 as of 2008

I graduated from Michigan’s class of 2011. I attended the Honor’s College, and the classes there are massivly inflated. Freshmen honors classes give out almost all A’s. I recieved one B over my entire college career, and that was in a 400 level science class for which I had skipped the prereqs.

You don’t have to be a genius to ace your classes. Just don’t drink on weekdays and make sure you have enough time to complete your labs and homework.

So… it looks like it depends on your major lol

Engineering students pray for B’s, most LSA students are embarassed by them.

A bigger factor is probably how much you drink on weekdays. Michigan frats have a free beer tradition, and many of the RAs buy alcohol for their halls. If you don’t drink (or at least not on weekdays) you have an advantage over those who do.

Lol that’s a lame excuse. But I hear ya

My son is in Greek life at U of M and they publish Greek GPAs compared to overall GPA at U of M. In 2011, the average overall GPA at Michigan was a 3.24.

What was the Greek GPA?

Was there any mention of the majors Greek life students choose vs the rest?

Oh yeah and to the Ross point mentioned earlier, they can get a 4.4 for an A+

This is directly from the Greek Life website at U of M.

Winter 2011:
University Avg. GPA: 3.244
Greek Avg. GPA: 3.279
