How much Hispanic heritage is needed to claim that you are Hispanic.

<p>I have a great-great grandfather from some country in Latin America. Can I claim that I am Hispanic since I have his last name?</p>

<p>It is really quite simply, do you identify yourself as hispanic? If not, then don’t mark it. I must remark, however, that being 1/16 from “some country in Latin America” may be stretching it though…</p>

<p>As GW says, it is a question of whether or not you identify yourself as Hispanic. While the amount of Hispanic background is likely to affect if you identify as Hispanic, it is not a specific factor; and neither is your last name.</p>
