How much homework do you guys get (effects on sleep)?

depends on where you're aiming at for college

Lets say University of Michigan instate

^NO! Looking at your chances thread it seems like you focus way too much time on grades (4.0 and 1/680?). And while that is good, i think colleges would prefer if you spent more time on EC's and your interests even if that means a tiny GPA drop. Anyways from what I've heard if you have a 3.85+ it looks solid.

well they wouldn't mind that so much

harvard would think you're insane lmao

well, i'm going for U of M honors, so thats a little bit tougher, idk if that makes a big difference.

Nobody would think you're insane for wanting more sleep.
HOWEVER, I do think people would think you're insane if you claim that you were getting NO sleep because you wanted a 4.0...

I could teach a course on how to properly do the bare minimum of work and get away with it, LOL. I'm holding down a 4.0 UW. ;)

Tip #1: Don't do homework for classes where the teacher doesn't check it. Even if the teacher threatens to check it. S/he never actually will and is only trying to scare you.

Tip #2: Make use of your time in homeroom (20-30 minutes a day, at my school). Use it to do your necessary homework, or to study for any tests you have first period.

Tip #3: Do homework for the second half of the day at lunch, if you must. Pack your lunch so you don't waste 15 minutes in line.

Tip #4: If you understand the material, you don't have to study for the test. No need to study for anything unless you really need the grade (e.g. your grade drops to a B, you study for the next test, you have an A again, and you can stop studying).

Harvard, oh wait, you mean Michigan of the east? jkjk yea, well i really dont care for harvard

Highopes I've been using your 4 tips for a long, long time, and that's how I get enough sleep, etc :]

Thank you Highopes, i'll be sure to try, but we dont have homeroom

Yeah, those four tips are what has gotten me through high school so far. I even manage to have (gasp) free time! And I forgot one.

Tip #5: Make friends with (smart) older kids. Get their notes from classes you're about to take. That way, you don't have to pay as close attention in class, and you can focus on doing your other homework. ;)

^ Haha now I don't do that, that seems like almost cheating in my book.

yeah tip #5 is NOT acceptable when you're the smart older kid
stupid underclassmen

yeah I know ppl who have older siblings who basically ace their tests because their older brother/sister showed them all the answers or gave them all their notes. That's sort of cheating...

That's what my school's val does. Argh..

my pet peeve is when people cheat >:{

^ haha that's what the stupid ppl in my class do..

yea i hate cheating. It angers me soooo much, because while the honest kids break their backs and settle for less, the suckers get the fame!!!

karma will come around and bite those freeloaders in the ass

Nicely said EatBreathMath. Btw out of curiousity, what math classes have you taken and what do you plan to take lol
