How much longer will I stare at this status?!

Blueline, I’m also surprised you weren’t offered summer session, although PSU does weigh the GPA 2/3 and the standardized test score 1/3 (even so, I would’ve thought you had a good chance at summer). BTW - does anyone know if PSU uses the weighted or unweighted GPA?

Blueline–Were you rejected all together or offered admission to a branch campus? Did you select a second choice campus?

Did not apply to any branch campus I am OSS. Unweighted was a 2.95 3 H or HH classes per year a few C’s, many B & B+'s & few A’s

my school GPA standard
C = 1.5
C+ = 2.0
B = 2.5
B+ = 3.0
A = 3.5
A+ = 4.0

Are statuses updated on weekends?

@iPhoneHacker

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago and I believe the answer was yes.

I applied in September…had the same status since Oct 12…I’m between blue and yellow on bubble chart. Im hoping my status changes this weekend…

Is the 2008 version the most updated version of the bubble chart? Also, the chart says the GPA is based on a 4.0 scale, but “takes into consideration weighted grades.” Does anyone know what that means?

Eight threads away from this one on the first page:

So my status changed this morning.

Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made .

Sigh, i just hope a decision is made before christmas.

ephenst: What did your status say before changing, how long was your prior status and When did you submit?
Good luck!

i have had that status for weeks

It was saying
“Your application has been received and is being reviewed . Thank you for applying to Penn State .” for almost three weeks.

My application was in on october 21 and my transcripts and SAT scores were in by November 1.
@confused01 you last comment…little bit of a buzz kill. Even if your only telling the truth.

@ephenst
Ive had that status for 2 weeks now

My son’s had that status for a month. But he’s less than a borderline acceptance, and I take the fact that they’re rejecting people…and HE hasn’t heard…as a good sign. Some schools go crazy with the deferral thing and just use EA/Rolling as an excuse to cherry pick. I like a school that’s bold enough to send rejections, I think its kinder. And quite frankly, he wants to go further from home…I figure if he wants big state Football school-PENN STATE IS CLOSER!!! In the event of an acceptance, I’ll throw in Laundry once a month!!!

imani - Where is your son on the bubble chart?

at the page’s edge…hah. He’s got a 3.67W nice rigor (all Honors HH and a couple AP), stellar letters, essays, Nice EC’s tests very mediocre- 1130 R/M. SO he doesn’t fair well on the PSU bubble chart (which I hadn’t realized is from 2008?). I know kids from his school that were accepted to PSU UP back then and they were not near those bubble stats. Like I’ve mentioned before, on the school’s Naviance (which has 30-45 apps a year to PSU/UP) he’s in a very comfortable spot…I can only ascertain that they either:
-Love kids from our school
-the kids attending PSU 6-8 years ago who are on the chart are bringing down the overall acceptance stats for the school.
Any other OOS people have Naviance charts that seem to negate the official “Bubble Chart”?

imani- are you looking at the updated bubble chart that was just posted in October? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/penn-state-university-park/1022595-updated-bubble-chart-psu-admissions.html

According to the chart, with a 3.67 you would need around a 2000 SAT (that combines all 3 parts of the test) to be comfortably in the “blue” zone; I hate to say but it looks very doubtful for admissions to UP but likely for a satellite campus…but let us know how it turns out!

Hello.
I plan on sending my SAT scores right now and giving my forms and transcript to my counselor around tomorrow to be sent out when she finishes. I want my application to be completed by November 30th so do you think my application would be completed considering it takes a week or two for them to receive my stuff?

We are still waiting for that ‘decision’ to be made and posted. App in on Oct 17, last SATs were in by the end of Oct. I called and found out that because the middle inital or name was used on the most recent (and highest) SATs, they were put into a different file. Now, the files have been merged and I hope my son’s app will be noticed soon.
4.0 waited GPA, 2070 SATs. Definitely in the blue bubbles.
Every morning, my son checks for the status to say ‘coming days’.
He applied for Engineering and I wonder if they are slower with doling out acceptances. As the days pass, the paranoia sets in. The title of this thread says it all.

Yah…that’s why he’s “off the page” He’s in 5 schools already, all of which he prefers to PSU (I’m pushin the PSU thing because it has everything he’s looking for-but closer to home!) He thinks too many kids from his school go there making it a mini version of his last 4 years. Satellite campus wasn’t even on the table. He applied Sept 6 and Hasn’t been turned down…yet! Best of luck to all of you (especially to you parents!!!)
