Since I plan on applying to Iowa State someday, I was wondering how much money they give to stuents who are instate? Also, how much would it cost annually to attend Iowa State instate? How many scholarships do they give out, and how hard is it to find and get these scholarships? My parents say that I may not be able to get much fiancial aid, so is there anything else to lower the amount of money needed other than loans? I know I may have to go into loans anyway if I go to Iowa State, but if I were to go to Iowa State with 10,000 dollars from a job, how hard would it be to go to Iowa with little to no loans?

Hi OldArnold,
This information can be found on the Iowa State website. There are many scholarships that are merit based. You can also check with the department and college of the major you are interested in pursuing. As for the difficulty of attending without loans, you didn’t say how much time you have between now and when “someday” is. And, time is money.
