How much of a negative is it to not be in the top ten percent?

I recently received my junior transcript was 35/334, so the last man out of the top ten percent. All the schools I'm looking at have ridiculously high amounts of students within the top ten percent of their applying class (Cornell, UVA, JHU). Does this kill my chances? Will colleges be able to see how close I was to the top ten percent? I have good test scores (32 act) and solid ECs, so the only weakness is this class rank. Am I screwed?

you can always explain to the colleges your class rank if you know it and no one in their right mind cares about the difference between 35th and 33rd out of 334. It’s just how the numbers work out.

That said, some of the really top colleges have many in the top 5%. I am also near 10% though above the line rather than below so I feel the same thing…

Only for TAMU and UT-Austin will that hurt much…
